The Battle Lake volleyball team defeated the Rothsay Tigers in straight sets Thursday night 25-10, 25-11, 25-13.

“The Battlers came out with energy and were able to maintain that energy throughout the match,” commented Head Coach Jenny Roisum.  “The Battlers served well tonight going 64/73 with 17 aces.  Ady Tysdal served tough in set one and finished 15/17 with 5 aces.  Andrea Schmidt served tough in set three finishing 19/19 with 5 aces.  Laiken Bladow came off the bench and went 6/6 while getting the final ace of the night.   The Battlers played consistently tonight which allowed us to attack and keep Rothsay out of system.”

Grace Van Erp finished with 11 kills and was 10/10 serving.  Hannah Cory finished with 8 kills and Tysdal added 4 kills and 13 digs.  Kate Christensen dished out 19 assists for the Battlers.

Battle Lake will hope to keep the momentum going as they head to Parkers Prairie next week.

“Tonight was a tough one for us,” said Rothsay Head Coach John Reber. “Battle Lake was swinging at us and we were sending free balls at them. We'll continue to work on serving, passing, and setting, but high school volleyball comes down to kills, and we're struggling to find any right now.”

Rothsay will host Ashby in their next match on Tuesday.
