“Tonight was one of those nights that I don't think we did anything particularly excellently, but our young men played with unquestioned effort and energy and that translated into a win for us,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Ryan Garvin.

Micah Foss finished with 15 points to lead the Comets.  Zeke Ihrke added 10 points and 5 assists and eight other players scored to fill out the score book.  Noah Brumfield had 6 boards and 6 assists to go along with 4 points.

“We didn't shoot the ball particularly well from anywhere on the floor and our offense seemed flat to start and disjointed for most of the evening, but we converted when it mattered and they ran the floor well in transition, which put the pressure on Rothsay's defense all evening,” noted Garvin.  “I thought Yuchan and Zeke did a pretty solid job on Colby Larson. He's so vital to their offense. He absolutely sets the tone for that team. Although we didn't shoot the ball well, I'm still really enjoying how we're moving the ball and making the extra pass. It makes a missed shot that much easier to handle knowing you got a clean look off of the extra pass.  Great night to get everyone involved, capture some film on our overall and individual performances and have a healthy quantity of possessions/repetitions to be able to analyze together, learn from and improve as we move forward.”

Rothsay was led by Tanner Heier with 10 points.  Matthew Danielson contributed 7.

The game was the sixth straight on the road for the Comets who improved to 5-4, winning for a third straight time.  They conclude their eight game stretch away from home with games at Battle Lake on Tuesday and at Parkers Prairie on Friday.

Rothsay (4-5) will be an Underwood on Tuesday and will host Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Thursday.
