McCleary Wins 800, Takes 2nd in 1600 at Class A State Meet

Perham junior Jacob McCleary won the 800 meter run (1:56.92) and was runner-up in the 1600 (4:16.38), leading Perham to a third place finish in the Class A Boys State Track and Field Meet at St. Michael-Albertville on Friday.

McCleary was also a member of the seventh place 4x400 relay team along with Gabe Thompson, Elijah Morris and Gareth Covington.  Junior Levi Richter of the Yellowjackets placed second in the pole vault (13-09.00).

Joshua Finseth of DGF was the long jump champion (21-03.25), the runner-up in the triple jump (44-03.75) and the fourth place finisher in the 400 meter dash (50.23).  Justin Wang of the Rebels was ninth in the 400 (51.00).

Gavin Johnson of Breckenridge was seventh in the shot put (49-00.75) but did not place in the discus.

Rothsay senior Colby Larson came in ninth in the long jump (20-00.75).

The Pillager trio of Bryson Krieger, Bryce Hutchison and Quintin LaVeau were part of two eighth place relay teams.  They were joined by Zion Loucks in the 4x200 (1:33.45)and by Ethan Kocur in the 4x100 (44.86).

The Pelican Rapids 4x200 relay team of Carter Johnson, Sebastian Centeno, Hunter Williams and Jesus Moreno just missed out on a medal, taking tenth place (1:33.97).
