The Battle Lake volleyball team defeated Rothsay Thursday night 3-1 (25-16, 25-10, 25-27, 25-22) for the first home win of the season.

The Battlers set the tone and pace of set one and two and were able to control their errors and served very aggressively.  The momentum shifted and Rothsay took huge leads in both sets three and four.  The Battlers were down in set three 17-10 before tying the set at 24.  Both teams played with a ton of energy but Rothsay pulled off set three.  Set four started strong for Rothsay.  The Tigers took a 17-6 lead at one point.  The Battlers regrouped, found focus, and made an amazing comeback tying the set at 21 and finishing strong to take the match.

Sophie Akerman, Morgan Malone, and Ady Tysdal had strong serving runs for the Battlers. Akerman finished the night going 18/21 with 15 assists.  Tysdal was 19/20 with 7 aces and 7 kills.  Malone was 29/30 with 3 aces and 5 digs.  Grace VanErp led the Battlers offense with 16 kills and 2 blocks.

The Battlers head on the road next week to play Pelican Rapids and Underwood.
