Brandon-Evansville ran for 388 yards and compiled 462 total yards in their 58-8 homecoming win over the Rothsay Tigers on Friday night.
"Great to be home for the first time since game #1,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Tim Pattrin. “We had a great crowd for homecoming and they really gave the team energy. Our line did a great job opening up holes for our backs to run through. We did a very good job of finishing runs and not going down on first contact. Our defense tackled well in space and did their jobs. Great all-around team win."
Tyler Bitzan scored a pair of first quarter touchdowns on runs of 32 and 7 yards. Ryland Yeats scored a two-point conversion following Bitzan’s first TD and the Chargers had a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
In the second quarter Titus Fuller connected with Bitzan on a 40 yard touchdown pass and Bitzan scored the two-point conversion for a 22-0 halftime lead.
Fuller then broke loose for a 33 yard touchdown run and a 28-0 B-E advantage just two minutes into the third quarter. A 5-yard TD pass from Fuller to Carter White and a Yeats two-point conversion run increased the Chargers lead to 36-0 with 4:45 left in the third quarter. Rothsay scored on a 15 yard touchdown pass from Tanner Heier to Sam Danielson and a two-point conversion pass from Heier to Chris Carrillo to make the score 36-8 with 1:45 left in the third. A 15 yard run by Yeats and a two-point conversion run by Fuller gave the Chargers a 44-8 lead at the end of three quarters.
In the fourth quarter Logan Haburn scored on runs of 15 and 31 yards. Micah Fuller scored a two-point conversion following Haburn’s second TD to complete the scoring.
Fuller (11 attempts, 155 yards), Bitzan (12 carries, 103 yards), Haburn (7 carries, 74 yards) and Yeats (4 attempts, 56 yards) combined for a tremendous night for the Chargers running game. Fuller also completed 4-of-13 passes for 74 yards. Stevie Hamilton caught one pass for 39 yards and Carter White was on the receiving end of two passes for 19 yards.
For Rothsay, Heier completed 13-of-36 passes for 125 yards and ran for 39 yards on 8 carries. The leading rusher was Karson Jensen with 52 yards a 14 attempts. Jensen also caught 3 passes for 34 yards, while Danielson hauled in a team high 6 passes for 69 yards. The Tigers finished with 229 total yards, 125 passing and 104 rushing.
Brandon-Evansville (3-3) will play a road game against Bertha-Hewitt (2-4) on Friday.
Rothsay will host Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Friday night with both teams in search of their first win.
