Warriors Advance with Shutout Win Over Rothsay

Seven different players reached the end zone on Tuesday night for the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors as they eliminated the Rothsay Tigers with a 59-0 win in the quarterfinal round of the Section 4 9-Man playoffs in Wheaton.  The Warriors improved their season record to 7-2 with the win and will now host Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in a semifinal contest at 2:00pm Saturday.

Clint Determan’s 15 yard TD reception from Marshall Tolifson and a two-point conversion run by Tim Blume gave the Warriors an 8-0 lead.  A Blume TD run of one yard and a second two-point conversion by Blume made the score 16-0 after one quarter.

In the second quarter Bryant Callemius returned a blocked kick to boost the Warriors lead to 22-0.  A fifteen yard run by Tolifson increased their lead to 28-0 and when Tolifson connected with Patrick Forcier on a 24 yard TD pass it was 34-0.  Blume’s two-point conversion run gave the Warriors a 36-0 halftime advantage.

A 9 yard run by Blume and two-point conversion pass from Blume to Callenius resulted in a 44-0 lead for Wheaton/Herman-Norcross.  Hunter Blume hauled in a 55 yard TD pass from Tolifson and Tim Blume scored the two-point conversion for a 52-0 lead after three quarters.

Drake Berning ran the ball in from 13 yards out in the fourth quarter and Determan’s PAT kick put the final score at 59-0.

Tolifson completed 8-of-15 for 140 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for a team high 117 yards on 10 carries.  Brayden Hofer had 82 rushing yards on 12 attempts.  Hunter Blume caught one pass for 55 yards.  Defensively, Callenius had 6 tackles and Jack Siegel recorded a quarterback sack.

The Warriors had 407 yards of offense with 267 coming on the ground and 140 through the air.  Rothsay was held to 160 total yards, 107 passing and 53 rushing.
