Rothsay traveled to Hancock for a Monday night non-conference boys’ basketball matchup with the Owls. After building a 17 point halftime lead, Hancock completed the game with a 73-44 victory.  Matt Thompson led all scorers with 32 and completed his double-double by securing 19 rebounds.

Hudson VerSteeg and Chase Evink added 18 and 12 points, respectively.  Evink added 6 rebounds.  Jackson Koehl had a team high 4 steals and assist leaders were Sebastian Felix with 5 and Zachary Koehl with 4.  The Owls held a commanding 47-17 advantage on the boards.

“Playing 3 road games in a row in 5 days and battling the injury bug a bit we knew it was going to be a battle playing Hancock tonight,” commented Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  “We competed right away but got out of sync on the offensive side in the last 6-7 minutes of the first half.  We battled back to cut their lead but Matt Thompson and their entire team ended up being too much.”

Rothsay was led by Chris Carrillo with 16, Tanner Heier had 9 and Jett Kulack contributed 8.

Hancock (11-3) will travel to Battle Lake on Tuesday night.

Rothsay (4-9) has home games against Ashby on Thursday and Underwood on Friday.
